The Rural Oklahoma Museum of Poetry operates on funds from the ROMP Rummage Store in downtown Locust Grove, the Poet’s Retreat AirBnB rental, and occasional donations. The museum, along with the rummage store and retreat, have all been closed because of COVID-19 since March 14.
While the museum and retreat have low operating costs, we will need some funds to keep the rummage store space for the day when we will be able to open again. Our expenses include store rental, utilities, insurance, and a few supplies. We don’t currently need any supplies, but the other expenses usually amount to $700-$900 a month.
To help raise money to pay expenses until the rummage store and retreat can open again, ROMP director Shaun Perkins has been making poetry magnets to sell. Each magnet is unique and has artwork with lines from poetry. The poems are famous ones and also ones by Perkins.
These magnets are 2.25 inches in size and are perfect for your refrigerator, bulletin board or anywhere you want to see and to use a great magnet.
We are selling these at a price of 3 for $10, 8 for $20 or 12 for $30. Shipping is included in these prices. Don’t think you need 8 or 12 magnets? Well, they make great gifts–spread the magnetic poetry love around! Please let us choose the magnets for you. You will like them, we’re sure!
When she runs out of magnet supplies, she will start making buttons and a limited amount of key chains and necklaces of the same size. Stay tuned!
