Wonder City Wordfest

Wonder City Wordfest is an annual celebration of poetry and community that began in 2014 as the Rural Oklahoma Museum of Poetry’s ROMPfest. From 2017-2019, the festival was held at Wonder City Coffee in downtown Locust Grove and was renamed Wonder City Wordfest. The day includes a variety of ways for people of all ages to stretch their creativity and be inspired by the beauty, joy and value of words, poetry, and community.

The 2020 WCW was cancelled due to the pandemic, and in 2021, we are not having a traditional festival; however, we are going to have some poetic fun for you for National Poetry Month: A Poetry Treasure Hunt in Locust Grove. Anyone anywhere is encouraged to come to town to join in the fun.

The Activity: Eighteen businesses in town each have a line of poetry. Your task is to get that line from each place, put the lines together to make a poem, and bring the poem to the museum by 4:00 p.m. You can pick up the entry form you need anytime after 8:00 a.m. on April 17 at ROMP, or you can also download it at the link below.
The Prizes: If you bring the completed poem by 4:00 p.m. to ROMP, you will receive a prize. Also, if you purchased an item at any of the 18 businesses, you will get to put in your sales receipt for a chance at a big drawing. Each sales receipt from April 17 only will get you a chance at the drawing.  The drawing will take place at 4:15 p.m. You need not be present to win. Winners announced on ROMP’s Facebook page.
