Autograph book poetry began in the 16th century in Germany and eventually spread to America, where it was popular until the 1970’s, when people stopped writing poetry in their autograph books.
This exhibit showcases autograph books from the 1880s to the 1970s. The exhibit celebrates the poetry of the common people and gives all visitors the opportunity to create their own autograph poem and/or book.
This exhibit was designed for and opened during the Locust Grove Arts Alliance Christmas Home Tour. The whole museum was covered with more than 70 types of trees, tree poetry, and interactive opportunities to write poetry, muse about trees, be amused by trees, etc.
