The Rural Oklahoma Museum of Poetry is issuing a call for Oklahoma poets to contribute to a 2023 museum exhibit celebrating OK poets and poetry, OKLApoetHOMA. This exhibit will be on display April-December 2023, in the museum’s main exhibit room.
Eligibility: Poets either must have been born in Oklahoma or are presently living in the state AND have published (in any format online or print) one book or chapbook of poetry.
Submission: Please submit all of the following through postal mail or email:
- 1 short poem to display on the wall in the exhibit
- 1 poem that can be used in a print exhibit anthology (can be same poem)
- 8 x 10 photo of yourself (or high-quality jpg, png, etc.)
- 1 book of your poetry (will be on display, not for sale)
- 1 paragraph bio/artist statement (will be hung on the wall by your poem and photo)
The exhibit will officially open on April 15, 2023, during ROMP’s Wonder City Wordfest. All poets are encouraged to attend the festival, but attendance is not required to be in the exhibit. A reading of poems in the anthology will take place.
Anthology: You will always have the rights to the poem you submit to the anthology. The anthology will be available free of charge as long as they last to museum visitors. Our costs for creating the anthologies will be made possible by grant monies and ROMP funds. ROMP will not profit from the anthology.
Deadline for submissions: Jan. 14, 2023
NOTE: ROMP regrets it does not have funding to pay poets for their submissions. The exhibit, ROMP promotions online and in print, and the anthology will offer ways for poets to reach a wide audience and give readers information about them.
