WHY: This book club started with the ROMP exhibit Her Kind: The Witch in History, Popular Culture and Poetry. We discuss a variety of books in different genres for various ages. All books are appropriate for teenagers and up. You do not have to attend each meeting to participate.

SCHEDULE:

Jan. 16             Bless Me Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya

Mar. 20            Macbeth by William Shakespeare

Apr. 17            Mary Poppins by P.L. Travers

May 15            Wicked by Gregory Maguire

Our goal is to explore the symbolism, meaning and history of witches as they have appeared in our public discourse, institutions, folklore, film and TV history, and literature. ROMP Director Shaun Perkins, former high school teacher and college professor, will facilitate each discussion.

HOW: Email ROMPoetry@gmail.com to reserve a spot in the club. The museum is temporarily closed, but books can be picked up at ROMP Rummage Store, Mon-Sat, when you reserve one. You can check out the books for free, and they will need to be returned at the end of each meeting. The dinner is also free. We are not able to adapt the menu for special needs. You may bring your own dinner or snacks if you like.

Email reminders about each club meeting will be sent so it is helpful to have a working email address that you check regularly. You do not have to come to each meeting, but please only check out a book if you know you can come to that meeting.
