Me and Ken and Two Animals

frogatnight1.
The frog at night
Is not alarmed to be spotlighted
Or at least does not scamper
But merely poses
For the shot Ken takes,
The first of a series
That highlights the frog
In darkness,
In red shadow,
And finally in the flash
Of human sight.
I am thrice-removed
From its bumpy life
And a part of its story
That Ken tells.

DSC044822.
The small black dog
Aware of its status
As a black dog,
The kind most likely
To end up in a pound,
Gives us a friendly tour
When we stop to find
The old Okay bridge.
It waits for us
When we walk too slow
And poses for the cameraDSC04484
As if we had arranged
This meeting and discussed
The itinerary beforehand.
When we leave,
He promptly returns
To his house without
Looking back.
