It’s Earth Day, folks! Find the poetry in the natural world that supports us or share a poem with it. Sara Teasdale would be proud.
Night
by Sara Teasdale
Stars over snow,
And in the west a planet
Swinging below a star—
Look for a lovely thing and you will find it,
It is not far—
It never will be far.
Teachers, take your students outside today. Encourage them to make a poem of blades of grass or even trash (and then bring the trash inside to dump!). Or have your students form poetic words on the football field or anyplace there is room.
It’s the earth’s day during poetry month. Remember them both.
